we are the ocean tribe paddlers
Ocean Tribe Paddlers is a recent addition to Sanibel Sea School. Our mission is to assist the paddling community of Southwest Florida to better explore, enjoy, and understand the ocean, and to help paddlers be engaged stewards of our marine environment. We strive to build a community of people whose joy is derived directly from healthy marine ecosystems, a tribe that is invested in the future of our oceans.
Sanibel Sea School is a non-profit foundation, headquartered on the east end of Sanibel Island. Our staff is dedicated to our mission and spends every day developing in people an intimate connection to the ocean. Many of us paddle, and we would like to share that passion.
Ocean Tribe Paddlers has a vision of a welcoming community of paddlers interested in unique, safe, minimal impact paddling experiences that lead to greater understanding, conservation and enjoyment of marine ecosystems. What do we mean? Southwest Florida is a paddler’s paradise, but can be daunting to a beginner paddler, or even experienced paddlers who are new to the area. Such hurdles become more surmountable when you belong to a group comprised of people in the same boat, so to speak, but which also includes people who wish to help those in need. Standing in support of these individuals are the professional marine educators of Sanibel Sea School.
Who should join Ocean Tribe Paddlers? Anyone who feels that the mission of Ocean Tribe Paddlers speaks to them. We welcome paddleboards, kayaks, or any other variation of paddle craft. If you do not have a paddle craft, you are still welcome. Sanibel Sea School will provide instruction and equipment for those brand-new to paddling Southwest Florida.
