Sanibel Canal Paddle

  • Sanibel Boat Ramp (map)

On April 4th, Ocean Tribe Paddlers will lead a group paddle through the residential canals of Sanibel. This is an excellent opportunity to explore an area of the island that is home to a surprisingly diverse array of flora and fauna.

Canal paddles often provide a chance to observe manatees, dolphins, birds, and fish, and some residents' yards are full of interesting native plants. Paddlers can also expect to meander through a few short spans of shady mangrove habitat.

Those interested in paddling should meet at 9:30 AM at the Sanibel Boat Ramp. The trip will last until approximately 11 AM. Participants are invited to bring their own vessel, or a limited number of loaner vessels can be reserved in advance by contacting oceantribepaddlers@sanibelseaschool.org. Any weather related updates or schedule changes will be posted on the Ocean Tribe Outfitters Facebook page at least one hour prior to the event.

Ocean Tribe Outfitters is a branch of Sanibel Sea School that helps the local paddling community better explore, enjoy, and understand the ocean. Visit oceantribeoutfitters.org or follow us on Facebook and Instagram to learn more.
